Andrés Bermeo Calderon, 33. Member of La Prosperidad, he is working with coffee 20 years this year.

"For me the most important to be part of the cooperative is that now I can give better life to my family. Before our sellings were really bad, and we had no control over the price. Sometimes it was enough only for the day, to buy food and nothing else.

Now we have better economy, and we are able to ask for loans. For example my wife is in Lima because she is has health problems. I am able to send some money to her and also provide for my son here."

Adelmo Bustamente Silva, 47. Agriculture member of CENFROCAFE, showing his coffee trees. He was born at Virginia village, and started in agriculture when he was 12 years old.

"I came with my grandparents and was my first encounter with coffee fields, before they used to raised cows. I arrived to La Palma 38 years ago, and from there I know the coffee fields, tho with no technique. We could harvest after the 3rd year of the tree.

I am member of CENFROCAFE since the begining of the cooperative. They haved trained us in many techniques, process, and so on. We are happy with the Fair Trade because we have more trainees, we know more about the market, and have more power over the price. Now we can harvest at the end of the first year.

I have two children and I am able to pay for better education and health, my son is studing in the coast. I value more my family and my land."
